Press On
I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and
heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is
calling us upward. (Phil. 3:14 Amplified)
These words are for the tired and weary. I speak to
the discouraged, worried and overwhelmed. Some of
you may currently be enjoying the wondrous views
from the mountain tops. I rejoice with you, but
desire to speak to the heart of those who are
weighed down with raising the kids, paying bills,
saving marriages and busy fulfilling their demanding
jobs. I have a word for you—Press on!
I understand the exhaustion and weariness from
enduring. It feels like a heaviness that settles
into the very marrow of your bones, like penetrating
coldness. With each new day, the tiredness
persists, with no reprieve. But you must not
despair and give up. You must press on! But
“why”, you may ask. Because you have a Divine
Helper and Advocate—He loves you and is deeply
concerned about your needs and welfare. As
difficult as some times in life are, Jesus Christ is
ever present, praying for you, ready to provide the
Courage and Strength to seek Him.
I could give you a pep talk about enduring because
God wants to develop your character, teach you an
important lesson about life or give you a new
understanding of Him, or shape you into His image.
While all of these are true, sometimes they are not
enough to motivate you when you are at your
strength’s end. I believe in pressing on because
that is how you lay hold of Christ that is not
achieved any other way. Pressing on is how you find
He is real and learn how to lay hold of His power to
help you where you are. Pressing on is when you
finally meet Him.
God does deliver. He does provide strength. He
does carry our burdens. He does provide Hope. But
we must be willing to come to Him no matter how ugly
our lives appear or how worn we are. Just come,
now, as you are, with all of your concerns, fears
and weariness. Fall at His feet and ask Him to help
you. He will give you the Strength and Hope that He
promises. He will answer.
Please don’t give up. Truly knowing Jesus Christ is
worth every obstacle and hardship. When it takes
all you have to barely function from one day to the
next, PRESS ON to Jesus Christ. You will not
be disappointed nor will He fail you nor forsake
you.
PRESS ON!
