How to BeStrong through Christ...
To be strong in Christ, you need to know Him, and follow Him with a pure, sincere heart. As you know Him and His character, you learn to trust Him. As you walk with Him in trust, you will see Him prove Himself faithful and true in all His ways. Make it your aim each day, to follow Him with your whole heart, undivided with the cares and lusts of the world. When you make it your aim to be faithful, God will show Himself strong in all His promises. Only then can you begin to draw godly strength from Him!
Before you can draw strength for life from God, you must have a personal relationship with Him! Embarking on a relationship with Jesus Christ is more than accepting Him as Savior; you must be willing to accept the cost of following Him daily. You must accept Him as Lord also! If you are interested in knowing more about beginning a daily walk with Christ, click here.
Jesus Christ paid the highest cost so that you can have fellowship and communion with Him! He spilled His blood so you can have forgiveness and an eternal future with Him! He, who paid such a price, desires to provide you with every blessing and promise you need to live an abundant and obedient life unto Him. And He, who desires so much for you, is able to perform ALL His promises. Nothing can separate you from His love. He has conquered death and reigns at the right hand of God! He has the desire and the power to give you every blessing.
Some think having every blessing means the Christian life is one of luxury and ease. Far from it! Christ Himself stated many times that to follow Him one had to take up His own cross; lose his life in order to find it. Fellowship with Christ means being obedient, no matter where that path may take you. But again, Christ is ready to offer every tool you need to follow after Him with a strong heart, full of courage!
Why Jesus?
Christianity is very unique. There are numerous differences between Jehovah/Yahweh and other gods. I have no desire to theologically debate; my purpose is to share the glorious Good News with you about the Truth of Who Jesus Christ really is!
Jesus Christ wants a relationship with you! God, the magnificent Creator of the universe and the One who made you, earnestly desires a relationship with you. Christ has fulfilled all the requirements to allow you to have a relationship with Him. Christianity is about relationships, not religion! Through Jesus, you are part of God’s family, thus calling Him “Abba Father”. He is your Husband, Brother, Sister, Friend, Comforter and more! No other religion exists that allows personal fellowship with God on any level.
Jesus Christ is distinctive in that salvation is only through Him and it is a gift. No work or deed that you can ever accomplish could earn you the right to Heaven or allow a relationship with God. ALL of us are born with a sin nature; only Christ offers the Solution.
Because salvation is God’s work and a free gift, you can have 100% assurance that your relationship with Him is permanent and you can have complete confidence that your eternity will be in His presence in Heaven.
His Titles:
One of the ways we can know and understand God better are the names He uses. One of the most important aspects about Jesus Christ is His Deity. Jesus is the Son of God, but He is also God. WIthout His Deity, He cannot forgive our sins or have conquered death. Below are a few titles that prove His Deity.
Son of Man -Son of Man has power to forgive sins-(Luke 5:24, 19:10; Matthew 26:64 with Daniel 7:13-1).
In Luke 5:18-25, a paralytic was brought before Jesus for healing. Jesus told the paralytic that his sins were forgiven (vs 20). The Pharisees were outraged because only God Jehovah (Father of Christ), could forgive sins. Jesus healed the man to exhibit His power to forgive, thus making Him God.
I AM- (John 8:24, 58 with Exodus 3:14).
When God sent Moses to Pharoah to ask him to let Israel go free, God told Moses to tell the Israelites that the "I AM" was His name. The I AM means, "I will be what I will be". It encompassed all that God was as eternally able to supply all our needs, whether as Savior, Redeemer, Deliverer, Strengthener, Comforter, etc. (See Companion Bible, KJV. Published b Kregel Publications. Footnote to Exodus 3:14-15, pg 76)
The Word - The Meaning of "Word" is logos, the living Word. Logos always refers to Jesus Christ.
John 1:1-4, 8 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him and without Him was not made any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the lifewas the light of men...And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth."
God (Titus 1:3-4, 2:13; I Peter 1:1)
Only Begotten Son of God (John 1:18, 14; 3:16, 18)
Christ (Luke 4:41, 9:20)
Lord and God (John 20:26-9)
Lord of the Sabbath (because He created the Sabbath)-Luke 6:5
In addition to titles exhibiting God's Deity, titles also explain His nature and His relationship to man.
ELOHIM - Elohim occurs 2700 times in Scripture. Its first occurrence connects it with CREATION, and gives it its essential meaning as The Creator. It indicates His relation to mankind as His Creatures. Elohim is God the Son, the living “WORD” with creature form to create (John 1:1; Col. 1:15-17; Rev. 3:14); and later with human form to redeem (John 1:14). Elohim is always a plural form, which denotes the Trinity or Triune Godhead. (See Genesis 1:1, 26; 3:22; Is. 48:16)
JEHOVAH – While Elohim is God as the Creator of all things, Jehovah is the same God in Covenant Relation to those whom He has created. Jehovah means The Eternal, the Immutable One, He Who WAS, and IS, and IS TO COME. The Divine definition is given in Gen 21:33. He is especially, therefore, the God of Israel; and the God of those who are redeemed and are thus now “in Christ”.
The name JEHOVAH is combined with ten other words which form what are known as the "Jehovah Titles". They are listed below in the order in which they occur in the Hebrew Canon.
1. Jehovah-Jireh = Jehovah will see or provide (Gen. 22:14)
2. Jehovah – Ropheka = Jehovah that heals you (Ex. 15:26)
3. Jehovah-Nissi = Jehovah my banner (Ex. 17:15)
4. Jehovah-MeKaddishkem = Jehovah that does sanctify you (Ex. 31:13; Lev. 20:8, 21:8, 22:32; Ezek. 20:12)
5. Jehovah-Shalom = Jehovah [send] peace (Judg. 6:24)
6. Jehovah-ZeBa’oth = Jehovah of hosts (I Sam. 1:3 and frequently)
7. Jehovah-Zidkenu = Jehovah our righteousness (Jer. 23:6, 33:16)
8. Jehovah-Shammah = Jehovah is there (Ezek. 48:35)
9. Jehovah-Elyon = Jehovah Most High (Ps. 7:17; 47:2, 97:2)
10. Jehovah-Ro’I – Jehovah is my Shepherd (Ps 23:1)
JAH –Jah is Jehovah in a special sense and relation. Jehovah as having become our Salvation, He Who IS, and WAS, and IS TO COME.
EL- El is essentially THE ALMIGHTY, though the word is never so rendered. El is Elohim in all His strength and power. It is rendered “God” as Elohim is, but El is God the Omnipotent. Elohim is God the Creator putting His omnipotence into operation. Eloah (see below) is God Who wills and orders all, and Who is to be the one object of the worship of His people. El is the God who knows all and sees all and that performs all things for His people; and in Whom all the Divine attributes are concentrated.
ELOAH- Eloah is Elohim, Who is to be worshipped. Eloah is God in connection with His Will rather than His power. The first occurrence associates this name with worship (Deut. 32:15, 17). Eloah is essentially “the living God” in contrast to inanimate idols or false gods.
ELYON – Elyon first occurs in Gen. 14:18 with El, and is rendered “the Most High (God)”. It is El and Elohim, not as the powerful Creator, but as “the possessor of heaven and earth.” Hence the name is associated with Christ as the Son of “the Highest” (Luke 1:35). It is Elyon, as possessor of the earth, Who divides the nations “their inheritance”. Elyon is the Dispenser of God’s blessings in the earth; the blessings proceeding from a Priest Who is a King upon His throne (Think about Jesus Christ as our High Priest after the manner of Melchizedek)
SHADDAI – Shaddai in every instance is translated “Almighty”. It is God (El), not as the source of strength, but of grace; not as Creator, but as the Giver. Shaddai is the All-Bountiful. This title does not refer to His creative power, but to His power to supply all the needs of His people. Its first occurrence is in Gen. 17:1, and is used to show Abraham that He Who called him out to walk alone before Him could supply all his need. Even so it is the title used in 2 Cor. 6:18, where we are called to “come out” in separation from the world. It is always used in connection with El.
ADON – Adon is one of three titles (ADON, ADONAI, ADONIM) usually translated as “Lord”; but each has its own peculiar usage and association. They all denote headship in various aspects. They have to do with God as “over-lord”. Adon is the Lord as Ruler in the earth.
ADONAI – Adonai is the Lord in His relation to the earth; and as carrying out His purposes of blessing in the earth.
ADONIM – Adonim is the plural of Adon, never used of man. Adonim carries with it all that Adon does, but in a greater and higher degree; and more especially as owner and proprietor. An Adonim is the Lord Who rules His own.
In Summary:
Adon is the Lord as overlord or ruler
Adonim is the Lord as owner
Adonai is the Lord as blesser
(Source for Titles: The Companion Bible, King James Version. Published Kregel Publications (c)1990. Appendix 4)
His Existence:
ETERNAL - Jesus Christ has always existed. He was not created, but has always "been". Thus, His reference to the "I Am". It indicates always "being". He existed before the world was created and always will exist.
ALPHA & OMEGA- Similar to being eternal, the Alpha and Omega indicate He is Beginning and the End; the First and the Last
ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD -
CREATOR - He was part of Creation. He was involved in creating in Genesis chapter 1, as well as creating man in Genesis 2.
Colossians 1:16 says, "For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him"
GOD INCARNATE - In order to die for our sins on the Cross, Jesus had to become a man. Through the Holy Spirit, He was born of the virgin Mary, as flesh and blood. He was still 100% Divine, but 100% Man, a difficult mystery to understand for our finite minds!
His Character:
Before you can be expected to trust in God, you must know Him. Thus the importance of reading your Bible on a regular basis! Below are words describing God's character and the references in the Bible. Believe them as Truth, not because I said so, but because it is written in His Word!

Jesus' Works & Miracles
Power to Forgive Sins:
Jesus performed many works that only God can do. In the Gospels, there is a story of a paralytic. In those days, people believed that a man was sick or suffering because he had sinned. To show Jesus had power to heal AND forgive sins, He healed the man and also forgave him. The Pharisees were outraged, because only GOD had the power to forgive sin. (Luke 7:48-50; John 9:1-3)
Creator and Sustainer of Creation:
John 1:3 “All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.”
Colossian 1:16-17 “For by Him were all things created that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities or powers: all things were created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist (or cohere or hold "together”).
Power over Nature:
Jesus calmed large storms, withered trees, walked on water, turned water into wine, fed 5000 and 4000 people on two separate occasions with a couple loaves of bread and some fish and many more miracles. (Luke 8:22-5; Matthew 8:22-7; Mark 4:35-41; Luke 8:22-25. Matthew 21:18-22; Mark 11:12-14, 20-25. Matthew 14:22-23; Mark 6:45-52; John 6:16-21. John 2:1-11. Matthew 14:1-21; Mark 6:35-44; Luke 9:12-17; John 6:5-15; Matthew 15:29-39; Mark 8:1-9. Matthew 17:24-27; Luke 5:1-11; John 21:1-11)
Power to Heal:
Jesus healed on numerous occasions. With a word or a touch, he healed instantly paralytics, lepers, blind, lame and crippled, maimed and mute. Click here for a full list of His miracles.

Power over Satan/demons:
When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, Satan could not overcome Him. Also, Jesus healed people possessed by demons. Jesus’ critics said He was using the power of the devil to cast out demons. Jesus responded by saying that if Satan was casting out Satan, his kingdom would fall. A kingdom cannot be divided against itself and stand.
Power over the Death:
Jesus proved His power over death on three occasions: Lazarus, who was dead for four days, a man in an open coffin during the funeral procession and a young girl. (John 5:25, 11:1-46) (Ultimately by His own resurrection.)

Judges:
Only God has the authority and wisdom to be Judge over all. It is also a Divine right/characteristic to act as Judge. (John 5:27) And He is a righteous Judge, never erring in His justice.
Sends Holy Spirit:
Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to all who believe in Him after He ascended. (John 15:26) Holy Spirit is also God, as is the Father and Son. Read about the Godhead in Statements of Belief.
His Resurrection:
Jesus’ resurrection showed He has power over DEATH. (Matthew 12:38-40; John 2:19-22 and Romans 1:4; John 10:17-18). His resurrection is vital to the believer for many reasons.

APOSTLES
The disciples were eye witnesses to Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. They gave their lives to spread the Gospel and also gave their lives as martyrs when persecuted for their faith unto death. (Colossians 1-2 and Hebrews 1)
Was Jesus a Liar, a Lunatic or The Lord?
Ask any one who Jesus Christ is, and you will receive a myriad of answers. He was a prophet, a teacher, miracle-worker, or didn't even exist- He is a myth. Josh McDowell, a noted author and apologetic, challenges people to consider three possiblities, and only three, for Who Jesus Christ is. I found the point he makes worth exploring. According to McDowell, Jesus Christ was a Liar, a Lunatic, or He was Lord. These three possibilities are explored in Josh McDowell’s book, More Than a Carpenter, from where I borrowed this material.
Is He a Liar?
In Jesus’ life, as recorded in many written sources, He made several fantastic claims as to His identity. He claimed to be the Son of God, the Creator of all life and the Salvation of mankind. He even declared that He would rise from the dead after three days and ascend to His Father in Heaven. Either His claims are true, or He is a liar.
First, we must realize that the nature of a liar is to deceive, lead astray and confuse. If Jesus is a liar, then anything He taught was also a lie. The idea of Him being just a good teacher cannot be valid. If He cannot be trusted as to His identity, then He cannot be trusted in His teachings. Who would want to follow or listen to a liar?
Second, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is enormously important to a believer who trusts Him as Lord and Savior. If He lied, then the resurrection was also a lie, and the believer’s faith is vain, useless and empty. Learn more about the Importance of Resurrection.
Third, all of His works and miracles would also be a lie. All the sick He healed, lame that walked, blind that saw, tormented that were delivered and the dead that were raised is untrue if He were a liar.
It is not possible to lie about your identity, but be trusted in any other matter. If you met me for the first time, and I introduced myself as the Easter Bunny, why would you believe another word that came from my mouth? It is the same if Jesus were a liar.
Is He a Lunatic?
A second possibility to Jesus’ identity is He was a lunatic—a crazy man. To make such fantastic claims as He did (Son of God, power over life and death, Creator, power over scientific laws, etc.), He would have to be crazy. We would most likely ignore such a person and dismiss their claims as meaningless talk.
However, if Jesus were a lunatic, He would also have to manifest the characteristics of an insane person. Upon studying His life though, we find the direct opposite. He maintained courage and calmness under the most dire of circumstances (i.e. trial before Pilate, flogging, agony on the Cross). He always maintained His composure and serenity when His enemies attacked Him. When people argued and tried to trap Him in debates, He always calmly answered with Wisdom beyond the wisdom of man. Not the makings of a crazy man.
Is He Lord?
Only one alternative remains to answer the identity of Jesus. He is who He declared. If He were neither liar nor lunatic, then all of His claims to deity and sovereignty are true. All His works, miracles and teachings are also true.
BeStrong Ministries believes that Jesus is indeed who He claimed to be—Lord God. (Statements of Belief) Christ’s deity is proved (or revealed) by His existence, works, titles, and character, equality with the Father, resurrection and apostles.
