What do we do when our view of God and our circumstances disagree? What do we do when we believe God is good, but we are suffering? We have to ask upon what we are basing our perspective? Are we looking to our circumstances to confirm our view of God, or do we trust God regardless of our outward circumstances?
A couple weeks ago, I made the decision to cut the moorings of my ship and sail into unknown waters. The harbor is much safer. I know what to expect each day; the waters are usually calm and there are few surprises. Although the harbor is safer, there is one very important problem; I will never see the ocean. I will never know the new places that await me on the horizon; I’ll never witness the glorious sunrises or sunsets; I will never visit new lands. We were created, designed and purposed to sail on the ocean waters.
Do you have any moorings in your life? Sometimes we are attached to what is safe and dependable, such as avoiding a new call of God in our lives. But most common to us all is that we remain irrevocably moored to our past, be it our past mistakes, failures or regrets. Although these moorings are unseen from others, they create small, barely noticeable leaks that slowly pull our ship under the water. We cannot be anchored to our past and move forward with Jesus. Eventually, we will suffocate and slowly sink into the deep, dark, murky waters below.
Have you accepted the atoning work of the Cross in your life? If you have accepted God’s grace, then why do you cling to what has been bought and paid for with the precious blood of Jesus Christ? Not accepting His complete forgiveness cheapens His grace. It’s saying His mercy and grace isn’t enough to forgive your past failures and choices. There is no price or penalty you can pay to absolve your guilt, shame or regrets. You cannot make restitution worthy enough to salve your conscience or free you from the haunting memories. You must choose Christ and His forgiveness. Only Jesus Christ can truly free you. But you must choose grace. I challenge you to cut the moorings and sail into the ocean waters securely anchored to Jesus Christ and His grace.
So I ask you: what moorings are fastening you to the harbor today? Fall onto the mercy of Jesus Christ and sail into new waters with Him.

Why a Blog?
I debated about writing a Blog for some time. I am not anyone special, who has something new to say. However, I remembered the numerous times I was encouraged by the stories and testimonies of others. My desire is to also encourage or strengthen others by how the Lord has brought me through difficult times. I pray He strengthens you!
