Finding Fulfillment

But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deut. 4:29)

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jer. 29:13)

God created us with needs that can only be filled in Him.  We all need love, fulfillment, companionship, security, peace, happiness, purpose and hope.

The world claims to offer these, dressed in sparkling, glittering golden packages.  But they never fulfill their promises.  They usually result in the opposite—loneliness, despair, disappointment and unhappiness.  Some spend their entire lives seeking and searching for answers that bring meaning and joy, but find none.  Sure, they might find moments of love and happiness, but none that completely fill the need God created.  Why is this so?

Before man’s Fall, man was completely filled and satisfied.  Why?  Because he knew God; he walked with Him daily in perfect fellowship.  He had a relationship with Him.  After man chose disobedience and sin, that completeness was shattered.  Man’s fellowship with God was broken and man was expelled from God’s presence (so man would not live for eternity in broken relationship with God).

God’s love knew no bounds.  He provided a way at His own expense to reconcile man to Himself by sending His own Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the Cross.  God continues to actively pursue man to accept the atonement of the Cross, accept His forgiveness and enjoy restored fellowship.  He loves man too much to force him into union with Himself.  Thus, He patiently waits until man chooses Him again.

This brings us to the present.  Until you accept Jesus Christ as Savior, washed and forgiven of your sins, you will never know true love, hope, happiness or purpose.  You will always be empty until you have a relationship with Him again.  He won’t force you.  He loves you too much to make a robot of you.  So He waits with patience and long suffering, drawing you, reaching His nail scarred hand out for you to grasp.  He understands all the pain you experience away from Him.  He doesn’t care about your mistakes and mishaps—He wants you just as you are.

The choice is yours; continue trying to fill your innate needs your way, maybe doing okay or perhaps suffering terribly—or—stop; meet your Savior and embark on a new, fulfilling relationship with Him.

Evaluate your life.  Are you living a life of genuine, abundant happiness, peace and love?  If not, I encourage you to come to Christ, surrender to Him and accept His plans of love for you.  You will begin a new and fulfilling relationship with your Lord and Savior, Creator, Jesus Christ.
